Dr.Ron has obviously prepared very well for situations like this.
They trick you into making a foopets, and making you almost emotionally attached to the virtual pixels that appear on screen, and then you realise you have to pay $10 to adopt this bunch of animated pixels.

After that, it goes back up to standard price which has increased by 50% over the past month.

Overall, Foopets is a scam, with a money hungry man that obviously has too much cash than he knows what to do with it.
